Welcome

The Roman Catholic Church of St Mary in Dufftown is part of a Pastoral Area based in Elgin and stretching from Lossiemouth on the coast to Tomintoul on the edge of the Cairngorms. Lying less than a kilometre from the historic Mortlach Kirk, it can be argued that Dufftown is the historical centre of the Diocese of Aberdeen. The small church has served many generations, and now finds itself old and seriously ill. A group of forty or so people from the Dufftown and Aberlour area come together on Saturday evenings to celebrate the Eucharist. The task of breathing new life into the building, ravaged by dry rot, is a vast undertaking for a small group of people. We undertake it happily, knowing that the continuation of worship in this small town is worth all the effort we can bring to bear.

In this simple website, we bring St Mary’s before you – perhaps you have some connection with the church, or the surrounding area – perhaps your family worshipped here – or perhaps you’re just concerned for all rural communities as they seek to build a future in difficult times. Whatever your reason for visiting this site, please take the opportunity to pray that God might bless our efforts with success. And … you guessed … if you’d like to help us with a donation, a Paypal link on this page will allow you to do that right now. Many, many thanks.
